When a Blogger starts blogging he try to collect out how many pageviews he getting on a daily basis so we use Google Analytics to track acurate number of pageviews we are getting daily, weekly or monthly. Analytics is owned by Google and it is a trusted and accurate way to get correct stats of our blog. If we are getting 1k daily pageviews according to Analytics then it may not be true that all of them are from our visitors, atleast 50-100 pageviews are did by author itself. So the question rise up is how we can stop tracking our own hits in Google Analytics. The solution is quite simple that we simply block our IP from tracking. So lets see how to do this.
Stopping Analytics from Tracking Own Hits:
1. Get your IP address. Before you start the process you will need to get your IP address. That is easily done by visiting www.whatsmyip.org . As soon as you enter the site, on top of the page, in big bright letters, you will have your IP address.
Your IP address will look something like this like this: 184.233.122.75 (This is a fictitious IP address)
2. Go to your Google Analytics account dashboard. If you have more than one account, stay in the area where all your accounts are showing.
3. Click on the Admin button at the top right hand side. That will take you to “Account Administration” page.
4. Select and click the account where you want to make changes. That will take you to a page where you will be able to make the changes
5. Select and click the “Filters” tab
6. Choose to “Add New Filters”
7. Fill in the information on the new page
- Name your filter. I named mine My Ip Address.
- From the drop down menu select “Traffic From The IP Address”
- Fill in the IP address in the provided spaces
